Question: My server is behind the firewall. What ports do I need to keep open?

If your server is behind the firewall, the following common ports needs to remain open. 
HTTP
80
PCAnywhere 5632 
PCAnywhere Data 5631
Remote Desktop Protocol (Terminal Service) 3389 
SQL Server 1433
SQL Monitor 1434
SSL 443
NetBios (Can be disabled if SQL is shifted to TCP/IP and shares removed) 139
IMAP 143
POP 110
DNS 53
SMTP 25
FTP 21
RPC 593
LinkPoint (Required open for LinkPoint merchants only) 1139  

Firewall Settings for Windows

HC uses same ports on all the Windows based machines whether it’s a Database server or Subsequent server installation. In order to install HC on a Windows machine, following ports are required to remain open:

HC Administration Website 8787 (In case of IIS installed on machine)
HC Remoting Server 8788 
HC Server 8789

Firewall Settings for Linux

For HC installed on a Linux machine, following ports are required to remain open:

HC Remoting Server 8788 
HC Server 8789
