Prerequisites

Before configuring PowerDNS in the HC10 Control Panel, ensure the following prerequisites are met:

• PowerDNS is installed and configured on a Linux server.
• Since AS PowerDNS is used with Microsoft Exchange Server, an Exchange Server must already be added to the HC10 Control Panel.

Configuration Steps

1. Enable PowerDNS in Cluster Settings

1. Log in to the HC10 Control Panel as a Global Administrator.
2. Navigate to Configuration > Server Manager > Cluster Settings.
3. Under the On-Premises section:
   • Select DNS Server.
   • Enable the PowerDNS option.
   • Click Save.

2. Configure PowerDNS for the Exchange Server

1. Navigate to Configuration > Server Manager > Servers.
2. Edit the Exchange Server.
3. Enable the PowerDNS option.
4. Click Save and Edit Roles.
   
   
   
5. Now go to the DNS Server tab. 
6. In the API URL field, enter the PowerDNS API endpoint. For example: http:// IPAddress:8081/api/v1 
   Note: Replace the IPAddress with you exact IP of the Linux server where power DNS is installed.
7. Enter the API Key.
   • To obtain the API key, log in to the Linux server where PowerDNS is installed.
   • Navigate to the following directory:/etc/pdns/
   • Open the pdns.conf file.
   • Locate the api-key entry, copy its value, and paste it into the API Key field in the HC10 Control Panel.
   • Click Save. 
     
     
     
8. Once the configuration is saved successfully, the PowerDNS server will be successfully added to the HC10 Control Panel.
   
   
   • To create a DNS zone, navigate to Provisioning > DNS, and create the required DNS zone.
