How to make a password protected Awstats site


Question: How can I set password protection on the stats virtual directory?

Answer: Given below are instructions for both HC9 and HC10 panel :

HC9 Panel Instructions : 
Awstats virtual directory can be password protected by following the given steps:

  1. Login in HC Panel as Reseller or Webadmin select the required website and navigate to the path Hosting Services :: Manage Websites :: My Websites :: Website Properties :: Virtual Directories.

  2. Now edit the stats virtual directory by selecting the option “Edit Virtual Directory”, and disable both “Allow Anonymous” and “Integrated Windows Authentication” options.

  3. Now the stats site would prompt for password and the FTP user credentials can be used to access the website statistics. If you haven't created an FTP user yet then create one with its root directory mapped at “domain.com/special/awstats” folder.
