This process is very simplified in HC v10, all you have to do is to sell new plan to the customer and remove the old plan from Service Catalog >> Sold Plans.

What is the purpose of Overselling option in HC Panel

Question: What is overselling option mentioned at : Panel Configuration :: Configure Services :: General Settings at host level in HC panel?

Answer:
Over Selling is the concept using in Shared Hosting Module where HC host allows a Reseller who can sell as many resources to the end users (Webadmin). And the Reseller will only require to buy further resources from the host if total allocated resources to a reseller have been used by the end users.

For Example : if a Reseller has 20 webadmins and this Reseller buys total 10 GB Disk Space from host. Now HC will allow reseller to create & sell many plans with different Disk Sizes i.e Plan A = 2 GB , Plan B = 7 GB , Plan C = 15 GB Size. As soon as Total Disk Usage under the Reseller reach to 10 GB then HC will generate a Disk Usage Warning email which will be sent to HC Host and Reseller. Now this Reseller will need to purchase more disk space from Host.

Error : 72302010 : You do not have sufficient quota

Question: When I try to add a mail domain, I get this error in the HC and I don't see the domain in the "Mail Doman" list. Error : 72302010 : You do not have sufficient quota, how to fix the problem ?

Answer:
If HC panel throws following Error : 72302010 while creating a hosting service like mail domain, Database, DNS, Mailbox, FTP user, Statistic site etc, it clearly means that WebAdmin does not have sufficient resource quota.

Ensure that user has sufficient quota of that particular resource i-e mail domain in Hosting Plan. To verify login to panel as a reseller, navigate to the menu Reports :: Hosting Quota and check the report for that particular WebAdmin. If the quota is not available then follow the steps listed below

Login to panel as a Reseller
Go to " Hosting Plan :: My Plans :: Edit Plan " This will display all sold plan resources which can be edited or added by Reseller i-e Mail Domain resource and it will instantly be available for all users using this plan.
An alternative to second step is that a reseller can sell an Add-on of a particular resource from " Hosting Plans :: Add-ons :: Sell Add-on" choose the WebAdmin from list and click Sell.

After this try to create or add hosting service i-e the mail domain.

Question: How to create mail only Hosting Plan using MS Exchange Server for different business model ?

Answer:

This article explains how to configure HC Hosting Plan in accordance with the business offerings of Exchange Hosting Providers.

When you login in HC panel as reseller; go to Hosting Plan > Add Plan, select Plan mode as "Mail Only Hosting" you see different mail related resources with two options "Accumulated & Plan Based".

Using these two options while creating Generic or Mail Only Plan; reseller can create plans according to his exchange hosting business requirements.

Using these two options you can create plans according to your hosting business requirements.

Accumulated

This option is ideal if you plan to offer Exchange services to an organization who wants to create Exchange mailboxes based on total resources available to them. For example, Company-A requested Exchange email hosting with total MailboxSize = 15 GB with 10 Mailboxes, where Company-A has the choice to create up-to 10 mailboxes with different mailbox size but total mailboxes size of all will remain within 15 GB of available quota. Now the domain administrator of this organization can create mailboxes with different mailbox sizes, e.g. assigning 1 GB to Asst. Managers, 2 GB to Managers and 3 GB to Directors.

Now if reseller sells two plans to this Company-A using accumulated options like:

Plan Alpha	Plan Bravo
Mailboxes 10	Mailboxes 10
Total Mailbox size 15 GB	Total Mailbox size 10 GB

These two sold plans resources will be accumulated for Company-A; the total mailboxSize available will increase to 25 GB and they would now able to create 20 mailboxes.

Plan Based

There are Exchange hosting companies which target single email customers and want to charge per mailbox depending on the mailbox size. For example, Company-A requested Exchange email hosting for 10 of his employees where they want 5 mailboxes with 1 GB and 5 mailboxes with 500 MB each. Now to do this, reseller needs to sell Company-A two hosting plans, where resources type of these plans are selected as "Plan Based".

To reflect it in an example; login in HC panel as reseller, go to Hosting Plan > Add Plan, select Plan mode as "Mail Only Hosting" and on next page, mail resources type as "Plan Based".

Let’s assume reseller creates 2 plans using "Plan Based" options:

Plan Alpha	Plan Bravo
Mailboxes 1	Mailboxes 1
Mailbox of size 500 MB	Mailbox of size 1 GB

To meet the requirements of Company-A; reseller will now sell 5 instances of Plan Alpha and 5 instances of Plan Bravo to Company-A.

Now when domain administrator of Company-A will login in HC panel and go to Hosting Services :: Manage Exchange :: Exchange Enabled Organizations :: Mailboxes :: Add Mailbox, HC will give him option to create new mailbox and select Exchange Plan under which this mailbox will be created – the HC panel will list all 10 plan instances sold to Company-A. Once he creates 5 mailboxes with 1 GB (of Plan Bravo) then he will not be able to create another mailbox with 1 GB unless he purchases another plan instance of Plan Bravo from reseller. But obviously he would able to create 5 mailboxes of 500 MB sizes each.

NOTE: The reseller cannot sell both "Accumulated" and "Plan Based" Exchange plans to same webadmin.

Unable to create hosting plan at host level

Such problem normally appears when English language is not the server default language and users are using other regional OS such as Turkish, German, Spanish etc.

Our recommendation & requirement is to install SQL server in "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" collation. If it is not the above then many of HC’s stored procedures would fail to execute while installing HC. As a result different panel services will be affected such as hosting plan, mail domain creation, disk usage service etc.

Verify the sql collation with the help of the below image:

How to add custom resource/Add-on in plan manager

Question: How could a custom resource/Addon be added and sold to the end users?

Answer:
You can do so with the help of following steps:

1) Login as Reseller in HC panel.

2) Navigate to the menu Hosting Plans :: Add-Ons :: Add Resource and add your custom resource.

3) Now set Default Unit Size as 1 and Default Recurring Price as per your need.

4) Then choose the method for Billing as Bill with Plan or Monthly Billing.

5) In the last step, add a plan from Hosting Plans :: Add Plan and this resource would show under Hosting Plans :: Add Plan :: Plan Resources.

Note: Billingshould be configured from Billing Manager :: Configure Billing before setting up price of any custom resource.

Now you are all set to sell the resource with your Hosting plans.

Error while updating Hosting Plan in HC

Question: Whenever I try to update my existing plans from Hosting Plans :: My Plans :: Edit Plan. I get the following error: Error: 70100510: Update failed; some Resources are in use. Why?

Solution:
In HC, resource(s) of a plan cannot be edited/added if that plan's instance is sold and there is an excess usage of any one of the resource in the plan. For example if Bandwidth is consumed more than allocated for the sold plan then HC will not allow to edit that plan at any cost. Before editing that plan you will have to sell addon for that resource to that webadmin.

Here is the step by step procedure for resolving issue for updating any plan resources:

How to replicate the issue:

    1. Login as "Reseller" in HC panel.

    2. Go to the location Hosting Plans :: My Plans :: Edit Plan.

    3. Try to edit the Plan. Here you will get error Error: 70100510: Update failed; some Resources are in use.

    4. Click on Show/Hide Report Link at this stage which will reveal the cause of this error.

    5. In this location, problem User (webadmin) and the resource which he/she has used more than the allocated amount would also be shown. To confirm this violation of consumed resources, it can also be checked from Hosting Quota Report of this user Reports :: Hosting Quota :: Quota Report.

How to resolve this issue?
Follow these steps:

    1. Login as "Reseller" in HC panel.

    2. Go to the location Hosting Plans :: Add-Ons :: Sell Add-On.

    3. Here sell Add on of resource whose quantity is violated by the particular webadmin(s).

This will resolve the issue and now HC will allow you to edit OR add new resources to the plan easily from Hosting Plans :: My Plans :: Edit Plan.

Custom Resource Quota Management in Hosting Controller

Question: How does HC calculate quota for custom resource?

Solution:
Hosting Controller provides facility to integrate new products with panel without writing a single line of code. This feature was initially available in HC6 and now new HC provides Custom resource Quota Management in improved way. Custom resource's sold and used quota will be managed by HC as done in case of System Resources.

HC provides Callback Stored Procedures for quota management. Hostadmin has to call this stored procedure with administrative rights from the application to be integrated, on every switched OFF/ON for a particular website.

These are the steps involved in subscribing your custom resource for automatic quota management:

Add a custom resource from Hosting Plans :: Add-Ons :: Add Resource.
Then add Menu and its link through My Server :: Custom Menus :: Add Custom Menu. This makes your application become integrated with HC Panel.
Now call stored procedures "pmCustomQuotaManager" from your code.

Plan Quota issue in creating IP base website

Question: When I try to create an IP-based website, I get an error "You do not have the required resource quota."

Solution:
This error appears when IP Based Domain option is selected while creating the website but the chosen plan does not allow the creation of IP Based website.

Make sure that the plan under which website is being created allows IP based website creation. A plan allows IP based website creation when IP Based Domains resource value is greater than or equal to "1".

To make a plan that allows IP based website creation, follow the steps below:

Login to HC as "Reseller". Click Hosting Plans form Hosting Manager menu.
Click My Plans and select the desired plan or create new one and click on Edit Plan button.
Find IP Based Domains field and uncheck Excluded and set value in Quantity edit box.
The value 1 means that this plan, when sold, allows creation of ONE IP based website.
Click Update Plan button to save settings.
